Good morning from the land of the rising sun ☀️ Japan🇯🇵 Osaka. I'm on holiday for the next 2 weeks.
I shall pop by the Girard-Perregaux boutique later and hopefully see the new Laureato FIFTY 81008. I was at another GP store yesterday which is in good company right next to the Patek boutique.
In the mean time, some pics and video of my rare laureato 8010 taken in Singapore. I estimate that only 30 pieces ever made of the blue dial with pink gold 2-tone. Calibre 3100. At 36 mm diameter/7.9 mm thickness and ATM 10.
Center links and bezel all solid gold.
As we know, in 1995, this is the first time the laureato was made in automatic and the first time "Laureato" Would appear on the watch.
I have included a rare seen picture of Gino Macaluso speaking to the GP team on design aspects of the 8010.
I'm glad to have it in the collection.
Looking forward to reading your impressions on the FIFTY. Matching date disc and no 12 are elements I personally like, but the writing, the hands, the absence of separate minutes track and the historical value are far better on your watch, imo. Best, Emmanuel
For me, rarity and historical importance are super important for collectibility. Top of the list.
In this regard alone, the 8010 is the top for all automatic laureatos.
For those that don’t care about rarity and provenance etc, then choose the one they find prettiest, date wheel and such to be whatever color and enjoy.
The center links of the 8010 are solid gold.
The new laureato fifty ref 81008 are gold covered/capped. Not solid gold. This is a big problem for me. Either steel or gold. Not gold covered.
I’ll try to post more but since I’m on vacation and such now, IG has been the easiest to upload the videos to.
I am shocked too. I said in the previous post that I think there are too much gold color on the bracelet

Now that they are gold capped, it is worse. 28K for gold capped center link is absurd price. Additionally, if you read SJX's review of this watch, the bezel is wider than the current regular 38 mm model, has softer transition between concave sides. Makes the bezel too wide and bloated for the size. I recommend you guys check the review. It is the most detailed review so far
That really is a stunning looking Girard Perregaux Laureato 8010 two tone.

I love the hue of the rose gold hands and hour markers against the blue dial it just looks so good as does the watch on your wrist. I hope you have a great holiday and safe travels.
