howdy, any thoughts or have any comprisons been done. other then big date, are there any other differences? same cal L951?

I believe movement is identical except for date.

For me it was a little dressier, a little thinner and therefore more wearable, and I think the RG / Black combo looks fantastic. Cheaper too!

I first thought that 1815 CHR would be the one - a bit defiant to the majority. It was/ still is cool watch. I preferred WG, but RG is very elegant as well. But one day, I flipped and traded 1815 CHR (+cash) into Dato Pt. Sure, it is thicker, heavier, mor... 

It is about aesthetics and History... The Dato was the first to be released, in 1999. It was a bomb in the Horological Landscape! Everybody welcomed it very warmly due to its exceptional movement, which became a reference ( in the meaning that now, a lot ...

It's the author for Watch Critics and many people in Hong Kong and China read that magazine and may be misled. *CL

but I do believe the level of finish are on par. It will be stupid for Lange if they purposedly set diff level of finish. May be Mr. Chung drank too much ....

Call me crazy, but I would even mutilate the beautiful lines of the Patek 5070 by adding in a date complication that would completely unbalance the dial. I really need a date because I have a difficult time remembering the date. If you can remember the da...

personally I prefer the Dato. It has a more pleasing dial layout, more proportional compared to the 1815. And the big date works perfectly with the overall layout balance. Andy

The Datograph was not a part of the original 1994 Lange re-introduction. It was first available in 1999. And many Lange executives believe it was the watch that shocked Patek and realigned the high-end pecking order. Terry O.
