There are dozen of references and comparison if you go to the Lange's post and in depth review.
Both are very nice pieces to keep,1815 with its own tradition and Dato with its own modern myth.No doubt,owning any of them would make you a proud owner of a noble horology house.For new comer to this brand of course would start from 1815 being cheaper than Dato.But there are many whom unable to resist the charm dato carries.The reknown combination of small chrono counter,signature big date at 12 oclock.....and the heart teasing feeling effect everytime the chrono pusher being activated.
The decision is yours,but rest assure you will not go wrong to choose from both.

I went with the 1815 RG / Black
For me it was a little dressier, a little thinner and therefore more wearable, and I think the RG / Black combo looks fantastic. Cheaper too!

I don't own either of these, but
personally I prefer the Dato. It has a more pleasing dial layout, more proportional compared to the 1815. And the big date works perfectly with the overall layout balance. Andy
