Having previously owned two WG Chono's and two PG Dato's (silver dial and black dial) I would have to say the Dato. I prefer the crown size, love the large date (so Lange), really like romans, prefer the overall dial layout, and at least to me, it seems to have a smoother wind. I could, however, easily pass on the luminous hands. I also really like the feel of a Plt. watch. I've just purchased a Plt. Dato, so I guess one could say I've put my money where my mouth is.

howdy, any thoughts or have any comprisons been done. other then big date, are there any other differences? same cal L951?

For me it was a little dressier, a little thinner and therefore more wearable, and I think the RG / Black combo looks fantastic. Cheaper too!

I don't own either of these, but
personally I prefer the Dato. It has a more pleasing dial layout, more proportional compared to the 1815. And the big date works perfectly with the overall layout balance. Andy

The Datograph was not a part of the original 1994 Lange re-introduction. It was first available in 1999. And many Lange executives believe it was the watch that shocked Patek and realigned the high-end pecking order. Terry O.
