I agree, it seems that Lange owners appreciate their watches more then, say,
Patek owners. Look at the posts made at Lange and Patek forums. Question
regarding investment value are more often found on Patek forums then they
appear on the Lange forums. Also, if a picture is posted of a watch in its
factory seal, it often is a Patek ... I have never seen a Lange in its
protective clothing on the any of the forums.
Those with only posts about 'investments' are imo not the real Patek entusiasts
Watches are not good investments (ofcourse there are some exceptions) and PP seems to have more of those exceptions than any other brand.
Therefore a lot of people are found on PP forums. They only want to make money and don't care about that specific watch. They'll only use it to make a profit.
I'm pretty sure this still is a minority of the PP enthusiats but those guys seem to make a lot of the most annoying posts
The same can be said about the Limited ROO's from AP.
Take the new Alinghi forged carbon, this is the hottest watch on the planet. Almost impossible to get.
Why ? Not only because it is limited, not because it's a revolutionary concept, not because it has a great AP movement ...
Most of all because it was hyped on several forums months before the watch was available.
Wanne bet 50% of those posts were not from collectors but from flippers ? The more they create the hype and demand, the more they will earn on it.
As far as I know Lange does not have such pieces.
When the Lange 1 Timezone or Lange Doubblesplit or Dato perpetual calendar or ... came out, they NEVER went above list. On the contrary, a little discount is / was always possible.
And that's what keeps away a lot of flippers who spoil those forums.
