Month on the ring
I was reading your comments and it just came to mind that the new Cartier annual calendar also has the months on a perimeter ring. Interesting design there too. Doing so does make effective use of limited dial space I guess.
May I congratulate you on ,,

your photo skills, you are improving all the time and I think that these are probably the best pics you have taken...warm and sensual..very good.... Well, every watch is wellk executed a la Lange ,but seems like nothing convinced you fully. As you know I agr...
Wow, real life pics!

Thanks for them Nico! +1 to Mo's comment about those photos of yours are looking spectacular! For me, this year's offering from Lange doesn't really excited me that much. Don't get me wrong, some of them are really great addition to the Lange line up but ...
Well, Sidney

Why not automatic, if the movement enjoys a three quarter rotor? Some will tell me that a three quarter rotor may not bring enough power reserve to the watch, I would answer that Patek, wih their Micro Rotor ( Cal 240 ) succeeded in reaching 60 hours. I d...
big date
By: cuibono : January 21st, 2012-03:49
the overlapping dials for the big date always struck me as a flawed approach for such an elegant watch, so i'm glad that's been addressed. i think the hour markers on the tourbillon look a little out of keeping with the overall aesthetic. there's an infor...
Position of dials
By: dr.limms : January 21st, 2012-04:35
No doubt they're all beautiful and rarefied. Now, I always think the point of having an asymmetric hour dial is so that the time peeps out just under your left hand ('majority') cuff so that you can discreetly glance at the time. What do you think? I thin...

Like you I like to see how a brand evolved through times, an old one like Vacheron or Patek, or something recent like Lange or Richard Mille. Some are not much interested from what was done before. It is important for me, not to "betray" what makes the br...
Power reserve display.
By: foversta : January 21st, 2012-07:28
Thanks for your answer Nicolas. I just want to add that the power reserve display has an interest here: to gain space to put a slimmer but longer mainspring, Lange removed the Maltese Cross on top of the barrel which purpose was to insure the optimal ampl...
No, no Moritz.
By: foversta : January 21st, 2012-23:30
The purpose of the Maltese cross was to "reduce" the power reserve in order that the watch always works with the best amplitude. So with the new Datograph, at the very end of the power reserve, it could have a less accurate behaviour. The power reserve in...

Agree & Not

Nicolas, Thank you for the great post and nice pictures. Seeing the two Dato's next to each other quickly leads me to 100% agree with you (even though I originally liked the up/down indicator idea). The original is much better, better proportioned and jus...
