Sadly

There are two things that make watches special for me. The engineering problem of the limitation of space. For me, cars lack this. And the enjoyment of discretion (probably why I prefer vintage to some extent). For me cars don’t have this.

I guess then you ought to read A Wild Ride, the epic journey of engineering and constructing the Aston Martin Valkyrie. Adrian Newey is the mastermind behind the project, you will seriously abolish your opinion on space in motor vehicles 😁........

Some people like N scale trains. Btw the new Bugatti has this problem in spades as well. But for me, the watches express this more. I grew up as a child who’s parent was a major contributor to the engineering of the US space program so perhaps it’s a prob...

so I personally wouldn’t do it. But if it’s your passion than you should. Having said that I’d also consider that cars are much more expensive to keep & to drive, there are many insurance issues, maintenance is costly and god forbid, accidents happen. Unl... 

But everything in life is a compromise, only you can decide. What you do and how you do it are the two main considerations to your question. I enjoy the compromises I make when I feel they leave me the most fulfilled relative to my other choices, if that ...

I was once told by a mechanic, that especially the 4c, because of the chassis it has (carbon), screws of the whole car need to be tighten/checked by the mechanics once and a while... is this correct or only "money making approach" ?

Maybe if I didn't have watches I'd have multiple sports cars or a lambo...at this point for me that seems too flashy. But that could always change 😅

We all know public roads are so very limiting. Yes, even in Germany. Imagine the fun at various road course tracks and you pilot a nearly untamable beast through 3.5+Gs in the twisties. But if you have to get a tin-top street-legal car... anything weighin... 

I say “some version” as I did not buy the “car of my dreams”, rather I purchased something a little more sensible and little less expensive. So for example rather than buying a GT3 for example I instead bought a 4S. You could say the brain won over the he... 

Space requirements, maintenance, utility, depreciation, and ability to enjoy are all so much different for cars than watches that even if the purchase price is the same.

As an owner of a 4C I can only say that it does not disappoint in any way. Amazing little car. Cars like this will only be more difficult to find in the future, so it might be an idea worth pursuing.

I was fascinated when it came it by the fact that its actually so small, light, built by maserati (if not 100% mistaken).... for me, as an ex-alfisti, it was a rebirth sign for Alfa, a good one. I was blow away by the 4c, especially in the blood red color...

Depends on how many watches you have. But if you've got more than six watches and you have watches that you haven't used for over 12 months, then it is perhaps wise to consider selling some of them. BUT, those watches may or may not get you a whole car - ... 

I am not familiar with current Lambos. Please tell me more of the hurracan and why the hurracan? Looking fwd to read. I had the pleasure ro drive the countach a few decades back. But thats a differen animal.

So many reasons for the Huracan to be added to your list! 1. Huracan is going to be the last naturally aspirated, mid-engined, exotic sports car. The Ferrari and McLarens are already all turbocharged. Natural aspiration gives you better response, a better...

True, the V10 engine on the Lamborghini and Audi are very similar. A lot of both cars were co-developed. The engine block itself is exactly the same. The Lamborghini has lighter valves, rods, etc. made of more exotic materials. It also spins faster and fr... 

That's one machine we don't have in USA. But I find the lightweight concept more and more intriguing all the time. A friend has the Alfa 4C. I should ask him to go for a drive together sometime.

I saw a video of Matt from carwow where he drove his r8 vs the lambo. It was a farce and his dissapointment was super real. There is ONLY ONE issue with the Lambo for me: the price tag. I like owning things, hence loan and leasing is not an option for me.... 

A Lamborghini Huracan Technica in USA is around $230K base. With options around $250K to $260K (that'd how I specify mine, fairly light on the options, heavy on the technical options like the carbon brakes, upgraded suspension, lighter on the colors such ... 

Cars, boats, and 2nd homes all end up owning you instead of the other way around. I have 0 interest in anything like that. My favorite part about watches is that they are a very low stress hobby that requires 0 effort.

Because i can not sell my lovely Jazz. Not in the world a car will replace this, even fast sports cars. Ok, a NSX maybe. But i keep my Jazz anyway. I can not ignore to put a type R badge to it. ...

It was a long wished car. Oddly the other candidates where, A white Civic A white BMW 220 gran coupé. I could not ignore that Jazz anymore. I regret i did not buy it new when it was possible to place the order at my garage. ...  

My heart wants a v12, my brain reminds it we live in a city that hates cars more than drug dealers, and then nothing for a few weeks until the idea haunts me all over again. The reverse happens too, why do I even own a car in this city? I could sell that ... 

If your hart wants a V12.... May i suggest the Aston DBS V12.... Probably the nicest exhaust noise by far.... Or something more discreet: The W140 S600?

The rest I don’t think quite measure up in terms of caché or appreciating values. The challenge with the GT3 Touring is finding one…

That being said I get much more enjoyment out of my cars than I do my watches. At the end of the day the watch provides me with time that any phone can do. Cars provide me enjoyment with my family that is hard to do with a watch. I go places, I create mem... 

No watch could do that.

I'm more of a watch guy than a car guy. If there was a gun to my head and I had to choose between keeping my Tefnut/Kalpa 2-watch collection and my LC500, I'll pick the watches. The LC500 is an amazing car, but owning a nice car comes with its own set of ...  

But still, if I got as much shared joy with my family as does jp884, then I would be okay with those added responsibilities of owning.
