Automotive

I find the reactions to my purchase of the Evora very interesting...

The reactions somehow follow profession types,
1) Engineers: they think it is great that someone would go out and really buy such a piece of dream mechanics.  They have no problem understanding the fun and interest in building skills to have perfect command.  I had a waiting line starting at my desk for a drive the first day at work, all the engineers.  The next question; when do we put it on the lift to get a better look?
2) Business types: see the car exclusively as a way to show off, to strutt and preen.  They are jealous and let me know that every day.
3) Teacher types, self proclaimed intellectuels:  the car represents everything they don't like.  It resounds of physical presence and physical skills needed to control it.  Running close to the edge, forgetting the insurance salesman mentality.  Insecurity.  It is real and on the road and not an unprecise attempt at a description of reality using words, however convoluted and deep.
4) Almost everyone else seem to think:  The guy is getting on in age and has problems with his virility.

These are, of course, my interpretation of the reactions of many people.
In the end I am with Graham, I don't care what they think, I am enjoying the car greatly.
And I'm glad that my daily interaction is mostly with engineers.  smile
