The look is industrial.
But that’s by aesthetic choice. There are still high-level finishes worthy of seeing here. The 18k gold rotor itself has 3 finishes applied, and has a nickel-anthracite-platinum-based coating to achieve the darker look. Striping, solarization, and other high-end finishes are applied throughout the dual-barrel movement as well. It sure isn’t a Lange, but it’s one the most impressive finishes you’ll ever see on a diver.

The magic on this one is that they didn’t go for faux-patina to make it look vintage. They just made a modernized version of the original. It’s cool without trying too hard.

The date at 4:30 is controversial. I personally don’t mind it, especially on this model. It tends to disappear unless you’re looking for it, and it keeps the symmetry of the markers. The no-date Hodinkee version is a great piece as well!
