For me, the Art Deco lines of the Reverso really speak to me much more than the Cartier. I really like the Cartier, but the Reverso just feels more special to me. Je ne sais quoi. I don't know why I like the Reverso more, but I just do!

To me a basic non date gold Cartier Tank is slightly more the conservative choice. A flamboyant person may choose the Reverso. But either will be winners.

I hadn’t thought of it through the lens of personality types. Do you think the different strap/dial options today blur those lines a bit, or does the Tank still feel like the more understated choice no matter what?

Design, brand, engineering. I agree Cartier is more universally recognized, while JLC feels a bit more niche among collectors. Did you find that people outside the watch world reacted differently when you wore each one?

a general observation is that I very seldom get a comment about the watch I am wearing. Does not matter if I am in Sweden or abroad. I can sense that people sometimes look at my watch especially when you sit close like in a bar or in an aircraft but rarel...

Especially within the CPCP collection. If you were to try a Reverso, do you think you’d lean toward a classic model, or something like a Duoface or complication to differentiate it more from your Tank experience?

As for which model, I think that may have been part of the problem as I really do like so many of them and that makes choosing just one harder. Usually something just catches my attention and then it's mine, not very planned or organised but has served me... 

I am blessed to have both (Classic medium Reverso and Rose Gold Tank Louis). They will stay on the collection. The Reverso is more sporty with a bit of elegance coming from the dial. As such, I can wear it in almost any outfit, from suite to TShirt with j... 

The Reverso almost straddles the line with a Santos, while the Tank Louis Cartier lives fully in the dress/elegance world. Out of curiosity, do you find yourself reaching more often for one or the other, or do they serve such different roles that both get... 

Because reverso is more versatile. And now i am rarely wear formal suit except when going to church. That's why the Tank now get wrist time on my wife's wrist most of the time. I love to see when she is among lots of other ladies wearing rolex...the Tank ...

I went to the AD to try it and I liked it but it was a bit small for my big wrist. The size is 24.4mm width x 40.1mm length x 7.56mm thick. Is this the size of yours? I see it perfect on your wrist. Source: monochrome watches This is the model I am talkin...  

The size is 25.2 x 42.3. A bit bigger than the new one. I think the new size is fine for most of wrist. The bigger size or "tribute" size is definitely wears much bigger at 27 x 45 mm.

I find the Cartier to be more demure, sophisticated, and elegant. However, I love the sporting nature in the history of the reverso.

The Tank as the more demure and elegant choice, the Reverso as carrying that sporting history.

In my own personal choice, the Reverso wins hands down. The first time I saw a Reverso Duo at a boutique, my jaw dropped to the floor in awe, seeing that dial being flipped to the reverse side. There is nothing more entertaining than showing the reverse s... 

The Santos does give you that Cartier design language but with a bit more wrist presence. Have you ever tried the larger Tank Américaine or Tank MC? I wonder if those might strike a balance for someone who finds the classic Tanks too slight.

...because Cartier 'uses' movements from other makers as a jewelry-focus company, and on the other hand, JLC is a titan in movement manufacture and these are supplied to other brands as a hallmark of distinction and reliability. I just could not figure ou... 

that there are wearability issues for some people with the flat backing of the reverse not sitting that well on the wrist. But I would guess that may have to do with the size/model that was purchased. The Reverso does seem to be also a bit of a scratch ma... 

The Reverso’s flat back and polished case do make it more sensitive to both comfort and scratches. I suppose Cartier’s Tanks, being slightly more curved and often smaller, sidestep that issue. Out of curiosity, which Tank variant did you end up keeping? ... 

I kind of wish I'd gone the extra mile and bought a guilloche dial version. ...  

Some thoughts still. These are probably the only two non round watches that have sold consistently well - it is an exceedingly difficult part of the market. I like the design, brand, mechanics framework mentioned above and looking at it this way I recon C...
