A question on Lang & Heyne
In four hours time, I hope to view a Lang & Heyne Friedrich III. Over the last week, I have heard from a fellow purist that there have been many quality issues with the Georg. I understand that the movement of the Georg is relatively new, rectangular in shape and is quite different from the more conventional round movement of the Friedrich III. Nevertheless, this latest news is quite worrying and I was wondering if any purists who are owners of have owned a Friedrich II or III (same movement - the Caliber VI on both) are able to share with me their ownership experiences.

I shall contact our fellow purist for more information. It is indeed a breathtaking movement although the case is a little on the large side for me.
Apparently
the lubricants were leaking into the wheels. This did not occur when the watches were new but after two weeks of the mechanism running. And it happened in three different Georg watches!
It should not happen to any manufacturer!

The dial is classic, yes.
The lugs, not so much. Which was why I eventually sold my Fr. III. However, the movement was a work of art and I had no issues with any aspect of it.

The Friedrich III in stainless steel
which as you can see fits my wrist well. It has rose gold hands which I think contrasts well with the dial. The Georg is too large for me.

I did think the Georg would be too big in your thinking. I was surprised you were considering it. The FIII is the perfect L&H-I just wish it had regular lugs.
The Friedrich III can be ordered with two lugs
but I am quite happy with my 3 lugs watch. No I was not considering the Georg but was just concerned over the reliability of Lang & Heyne in general. I know their customer service is first class but I prefer not to have to find that out too soon!!

For me
you can't really go wrong with a Lang & Heyne. Not many know much about the brand but fort me personally, they represent the best Germany has to offer followed by Moritz Grossmann. I am however looking forward to the new German brand, Marco Lang!!
