Horological Meandering

Collecting watches based on the info in watch magazines

I don't count there are how many watch magazines in the market but I do know they are too many watch magazines writing good comment and giving impeccable appraisal to almost every watch in the market.  The writers in the magazines seem do not care about consideration truism, instead they (info) are more marketing propoganda.

Is this phenomenon good for the development of horology world?

Friend of mine has this to say: "I regret I trust watch magazines too much.  I have acquired many pieces that I regretted.  Go to hell all these magazines."

Well, you may call him an idiot.  But as a young and new collector who has genuine intention to enter horology world with great passion, he has been "vitimized" or misled by those "statement of fact".

Any comment from the learned collectors here?

Regards

Ling
