IWC

This watch scratches a lot of itches for me. I’ve been looking for a brown dial pilot watch for some time--I’m also happy to own an IWC, a brand I have admired for years. I typically go for fairly plain dials, but for me, a pilot watch should have a bunch of stuff going on… buttons coming out from every which way, gauges, dates, sub dials on the face. With all that, this watch is incredibly legible. In part that is due to the unique font that is not present on the more recent variants. And at 42mm, I think is the perfect size to incorporate everything. I tried on the 41mm green IWC (388103), and the dial felt a bit cluttered… not quite enough real estate for all elements to cohabitate comfortably on that one, IMO (however, that shade of green is BEAUTIFUL).

The one drawback on my new acquisition is I feel the strap is too dressy. I don’t believe it is the original. So that is something I am likely to change out. I want a more vintage/distressed look for this one. If anyone has suggestions on reputable aftermarket watch band purveyors, please let me know.

Cheers
Drew
