My watch collecting journey, where I am today!

Watch collecting is a journey like school! First you get excited about everything then you start selecting what you like by the graduation day, if you are lucky, you will know what you want do in life.same thing with watches, I started with buying what I could afford an a medical resident salary… then a few years ago, I started buying JLC, omega, zenith. I never looked into PP. I still remember when I was doing a breast surgery fellowship in Lausanne. I was visiting Geneva and I went into Gübelin, the sales person was nice enough to show me watches. one of which was a PP that I described as an expensive swatch due to it’s shape🤦🏻I think it was 5056.
The first time I had a patek was the vintage one I found in my grandfather’s belongings. And the door to the PP world opened and my bank account started suffering a lot…
The first PP I got was 5168G, then the 5235G,
With the help of WPS I was deep into the PP world now… The questions that I started asking myself is what I want and what I like. New models came and old models were gone. I wished I acted fast to get a 5131… specifically the R one as the P was a tab expensive.
Meanwhile I felt the 5168 was a perfect everyday watch and an even better dress watch when worn with a shirt.
I ordered this one

Then I ordered this one

I tried getting the nautilus green dial but was not the lucky one the get it.
But ended up getting this one.

What I think of PP is that it is a watchmaker that encompasses the whole range of watchmaking, no other manufacturer does it.
Rolex have the sports watches, yes I consider the datejust a sports model.
JLC don’t have a sports model, no the extreme lab is not a sports watch Nico.
Only Vacheron with the new overseas have a nice sports watch.
AP have the royal oak… only lately the adventured with the code 11.59

Where can I go from here… the journey is just beginning, an perpetual PP is a must also a chrono is a must.
I would dream of having a rare handcraft
And the ultimate one is a MR.
I still have a few years of work ahead of me so all of these are within reach. But the question is when will I jump on the occasion and get them
One after the other…
Of course a few aquanauts on the way will only harm my bank account.

In short, I have a PP bug with no vaccin.

Correct, it definitely would not be allowed, as it's been the case for quite a few years -- every Patek must leave the AD where it was purchased unsealed ;-) Cheers.

Wow … someone actually turned down an enamel WT after requesting for one! The 5231J is a work of art … I personally feel that the enamel WTs looks best in yellow gold esp since the wiring used is yellow gold

But once I used the same type of ppics for my 5168 Blue dial and it didn’t make such a fuss! I am still not used to interacting with my keyboard and having to think of all the possible consequences… what a headache. Lovely piece BTW.

The why means that I am very knowledgeable in all of the techniques something I am not. The only thing I can tell from pictures I have seen on this forum is that the enamel work is somehow more lively to my eyes. I like colors, and vivid ones to be exact....
