The Morning Sand
We are not fully awake, and it takes a few moments for us to strategize and decide on a direction to walk on the beach.
Obviously we are not the only ones with this problem...

It's quite gray today.

However, a fair number of folks are out here in the gloom, plodding or trotting along on the hard sand.

The daily seaweed & sand grooming process is underway, with the quietest tractor we have ever seen/heard.
This crab's shell and a piece of seaweed could make a beautiful necklace.

We are heading south along the coast, walking towards Mexico.

Lots of beach dwellers are on the sand with us, looking for breakfast.

A group of Marbled Godwits are working the surf line.

A small dead stingray vs a large hungry seagull

ends in a stalemate.
It looks like many small sea creatures have met their end here.

Looking up and out to the water, we see the waves being exploited by a few hardy surfers,

while the Navy keeps an eye on the coastline.

It's not all gray here.

Sea stars defend the bench from skateboarders.
As we returned on the sidewalk, I saw this guy put his watch on the roof so he could
don the wetsuit. The watch slid on the roof, making a break for the
ground, but he caught it in time. No disaster photo required, thankfully.
