So here’s my story. I started with Panerai, and jumped straight to Audemars Piguet. I still remember the excitement of unboxing the Pam111 and the years spent eyeing the royal oak offshore but couldn’t get myself to spend that kind of money on a watch.
My AP experience has been bumpy. I bought my first ROO Navy pre-owned. My wife who was expecting our first child at that time told me: when our baby is born, you will not have time and money on watches. If you like it, why not just buy it? So I got my dream watch. Within a year, it stopped running. I panicked and called up AP. It needed a service because it has not been serviced for like 8 years, and it has been heavily polished, I was told. My heart sank a little. It’s not as perfect as I thought. That’s when I started reading up forums and got to know more about watches. I wanted to buy my wife a gift. Long story short, we bought a ladies RO and were allocated a RO 15500ST blue. AP today is very hard to catch up with. Their new releases are either impossible to obtain, or impossible to love. I got tired of their game and think it’s time to move on. I still love our pair of ROs and will keep it forever if I can.
During the pandemic, I got my first Rolexes from a AD - the two-toned Rootbeer and a Submariner No Date. With my current watches (sold my ROO) - I think I have reached my destination. The journey was fun and it’s time to enjoy the scenery, at least for some time.
And then I got to know F.P. Journe. This time, I’m pretty sure this is The Endgame. Thanks for reading til the end
