The Napa wines are brighter than French wines, and while I enjoy French wines when they're young because they're more subdued and subtle, I have to say, a great Californian wine that is very bright, tastes great. And an aged Californian wine (20 years or so) can be an immensely pleasurable experience as the age calms the brightness into a creamy lushness sometimes.

Late to the party
but amazing wines and emcquillan always has the best advice, especially on bourdeaux! Looking forward to trying 2003 Latour and Margaux next week, bringing them to a restaurant though so hopefully I can deliver so they open 4 hours before.
