I fully agree with your observations.
The clean ones are not easily found. I would rather have something with an aged dial rather than one that has been 'disturbed'.
I have just picked up an old Girard Perregaux small desk-clock. A friend asked me to restore it but I would rather keep it, as is. However, if Girard Perregaux Switzerland can restore it to its original factory-condition, it is another matter, altogether but to send it to just another restorer, the answer will be 'no, no', I am sorry.
I shall share the desk-clock with members here, soon. It is hoped, you or our sister-member and others may be able to tell me something, about the clock.
