Girard Perregaux

Well, I should say scans, as I found them in the Girard Perregaux book, and in the " Girard - Perregaux Celebrating 220 years ". An austere sensuality, for this watch one of us already posted, by the way: I specially love this small montage: So many thing...  

...is part of its considerable charm. The fact that it was certified during trials at Neuchatel and the actual tested watches then sold, is a testament to GP's confidence in its engineering. This watch plus the JLC Geomatic or Geophysic would make a nice ... 

You read, more and more, in my mind... I developped, through years, a deep, strong fascination for these Chronometers, and this one is no exception, even if not the most elegant... Look at the composition picture, on your left, you see this small bomb? I ... 

Note the wave logo - discontinued when Longines introduced the Ultra-Chron Handwind chronometers A gold one for my dear husband -- And a steel one recently transferred to my care by a fellow collector - Ginger...

I have always loved this very established brand-name. Unfortunately, its vintage pieces do not have that many followers, I reckon. Why is this so? Recently, I picked up a small desk-clock Girard Perregaux for my son, since he loves books, so much. I shall... 

I have a look at these Vintage GPs and most often what I see is a retouched, repainted, restaured dial. Or... In poor original condition. But it is not exclusive to GP. I noticed, lastly, that the good vintage stuff is rarer... Surprising... Best, Nicolas

amanico I fully agree with your observations. The clean ones are not easily found. I would rather have something with an aged dial rather than one that has been 'disturbed'. I have just picked up an old Girard Perregaux small desk-clock. A friend asked me...
