I feel this is a cop out from manufactures using old movements from when cases were smaller (luckily we are swinging back to smaller). Also I find that , in my head, there would be more robust movement if larger plates etc. Also, on an open case back I like the visual presence of a large movements.
Now, the big problem with a small movement is a small seconds too close to the cannon pinion. Sorry everyone is posting the 5196p, this is the thing that has kept me from buying it. My traditionalle perfectly positioned small seconds here. So, if we have a closed case back , an everything is spread appropriately on the dial, the I don’t care the linge of the movement.
Done right IMO..
