26-June-1801 was the day the Tourbillon was first patented by Abraham Louis Breguet.
Over 200 years ago, Breguet invited the Tourbillon to counter-act the effects of gravity on a pocket watch. It's ironic that we still enjoy using Tourbillons today; and even today they are very difficult to create, extremely difficult to fine tune and adjust (especially on those slow beat models). And tourbillons have expanded to gyro-tourbillons and multiple tourbillon timepieces.
