Patek for me
I agree. There is just something about the graceful lines and curves of the Patek chronographs that, IMO, make their movements the most beautiful--beyond even Lange's chronographs (although the double split is a wonder to behold). But of course the Lange is teutonic and the Patek is swiss. Lange is more austere and technical vs. Patek which seems more fanciful and graceful. I personally have always loved the swiss expression more.
But for a simple hand-wind serially produced piece, I'd give the nod to the Richard Lange.

There are quite a few options ...
but if we talk about Patek, I would go for this one ... cal. 27-525 PS (or ... Q). It is probably the best you can get from Patek, today. But there still is the Simplicity, the Duality, the 1815 Chronograph ... :-) ...

That is a beautifully finished movement. But have you seen the Montblanc Villeret movements? Especially the 16-29 movement. Mouthwatering. I could argue that this movement may be even more beautiful in person. But your Patek Philippe movement is exception...

The first movement that came to my mind...
... was the first Villeret 1858. And sure enough the Datograph Second alongside Mr. Dufour's Simplicity. Fantastic timepieces.

I see a number of rattrapantes, but surprised to see no Lange rattrapantes For me the double split and 1815 rattrapante (images are both foversta Fx)
