Horological Meandering

Dear friends, one question I often have in my mind is: how do you set your watches? Many of you have several watches, some of them you'll wear frequently, others will be on your wrists for special occasions. Do you keep all your watches on winders? Do you...  

It's a Rolex reference 1018, and I can just put it on whenever I wish. It is outrageously accurate, but I reset it every few months (or at least when there is a switch to or from Daylight Savings). The other watches stop between wearings, so I set them wh... 

Something I noticed over time though is that this appears to be done automatically by Patek watches (they catch up at most after a minute o two), while personally I have never noticed this, e.g., in a Rolex. That is, either I manually set up the two hands... 

From a movement function standpoint it's not obvious to me that this function has been invented by Patek of any other manufacurer, so that would be a new (and useful) "complication" to me. Thanks, FabR, for sharing your comments! Daniel

Most f my watches are automatic and I keep them in a watch winder The manual ones I keep in a safe and wind them once a month regardless if I wear them or not Hope this helps

This certainly is the most convenient way of solving the problem, at least for automatic watches. Since you're a VC kind of collector, there is a nice winder they make since last year (or so I was told). Thanks, Jurry.

I usually have 3-5 watches readily accessible in a drawer that get rotated over a week or two then that group gets changed out or "evolves". I no longer use winders as I feel they just hurry up the day the piece will need servicing. Relating to a car engi... 

If setting my perpetual wasn't such a nightmare I might go the same way as you do as I'm with you on the service interval caused by keeping watches on winders. Furthermore there is the space and practical issue of keeping 10-20 watches all on winders. PS ...

That reminds me off the old times when you had to call a specific number and it would give you the exact time every 10 seconds Plus the hourly beep on the radio

As it has all the necessary information including the moon phases, I usually am picky when setting the watch I am wearing as the seconds and minutes have to go together and synchronized with the app, this can be very easy with some watches (GO chronometer... 

I just installed it and checked it out. The time display page is really usefull for setting watches, especially the astronomical complications.
