Horological Meandering

Thanks for thr report.

It was only a few years ago the Watch CEOs were not at all concerned about Smart Watches. Consumers would buy luxury watches when they graduate form the Smart Watches.
Clearly, this was a train wreck for mechanical watches. The price point of Smart Watches and their utility in a connected world is undeniable. I see folks all over wearing them, never to go back to a plain watch no matter what. Now we see Smart Watch sales unit numbers exceed the entire Swiss production. This trend will only hasten as technology improves. Mechanical watches are on the same road that film cameras were a decade ago against digital cameras. People denied it right to the end. I cannot stand it, I love mechanical watches. Clearly, current production levels cannot be maintained and the whole buying experience has to excel from purchase through after sales service and repair. The less of a headache it is to own a watch, the more sustainability the traditional watch industry will have.
