I think so. At least were I live the younger generation is much more involved and aware with the environment(al problems) than we ever were. So taking that into account I do feel that they are definitely concerned with durability.

Regarding watches? I don't know to be honest.

Only one of my friends (50 yrs of age) I know bought an Apple Watch. He wore it for 1 week and gave it away. His Panerai is back on the wrist until he has got enough funds for a dressier watch...(showed him a Moser small seconds once and he loved it without knowing anything about the brand so I'm hopeful....). But a lot of young people aren't that crazy over cars anymore as we used to be so you could well have a very valid point regarding watches.
