They have so few watchmakers at Villeret and none of them are dedicated to service, so it takes a long while to get your watch looked after.
You ask some very good questions about “middle ground” watches. Value becomes even more difficult to measure when brands continue to raise prices without adding any significant craftsmanship to their products.
Maybe this is why we’ve seen such a focus on value retention and “investment” recently. Again, I think most people are looking for a way to justify the amount of money they’re spending on a watch, and if you can’t justify if because of the real, tangible value of the amount of labor that goes into its production, then you have to search for value somewhere else.
Still, lots of great deals are out there for anyone willing to look past the typical watches that get all the hype and/or don’t mind buying gently used.
Just my opinion, of course, and I appreciate you sharing yours!
