THanks for this wonderful discussion and for the great pictures.


If I remember correctly, the 'difficulty' you talk about in shooting DF's Cotes de Geneve, is that 
he, unlike other finishers out there today, does not cut into the movement plate to create them, but
rather 'scratches' them as the old timers did... i.e. a piece of pegwood with compound on it. Don Corson can surely give us more on that smile
 It's a more finer product, and reflects a skill which requires a degree of sensitivity of when one is applying the geneva stripes.
e.g. Steve G's webpage shows this where he has the different finishes of PP, etc all place alongside each other.
Since the grooves aren't cut into the plates/bridges, they are 'active' only under certain angles. All this you know, but thought I'd ad it in.
