Apologies for mis-quoting you on the winding feel -- I was going to put in a "please correct me if I'm wrong" line there, but got lazy at the end of editing the post. Of course -- the PLM! That is a great feeling winder, for sure.
Agree with you on the winding of the Observatoire -- it is a stiff challenge, to be sure. My understanding is that there is no particular technical reason why Kari's watches need to be that stiff to wind, but we'll have to ask him directly at some point.
As far as Halle Berry goes, my sense is that she is just like the Antiqua: beautiful and exotic, but high-maintenance!
About the photography: waiting for the right light helps a lot -- there were a lot of shots that were garbage because I took them in bright daylight or under artificial lighting. It's been cloudy here the past couple of days and between that and shooting at sunrise I had more success. Stability is key as well -- having the watch and camera both sitting on the desk helps sharpness a lot. For wrist shots, P&S or iPhone tend to work better than a DSLR due to the reduced minimum focal length -- by the time you get the SLR far enough from your wrist so that the lens can focus, the watch is a tiny part of the frame and your hand is shaking from holding the camera up!
Again, appreciate the kind words and I'm pleased you liked it.
Best,
Gary
