Moritz Grossmann celebrates the 200th birthday of its founder with the unveiling of the Hamatic Silver-Plated by Friction . . .

Pioneering German watchmaker Karl Moritz Grossmann was born on March 27, 1826. To celebrate, the brand has unveiled the Hamatic Silver-Plated by Friction, limited to 18 pieces:

We’re looking at a white gold case with a 41mm case diameter and a thickness of 11.35mm. 

Per their Instagram posts, the dial is created using a historical technique where the dial is given a fine-grained, velvet-like texture by hand-brushing it with various pastes and powders. The blue lacquer is filled in by hand:

For the first time with their Hamatic line, they are utilizing Arabic numerals in classic Breguet-style. The handcrafted and heat-blued gorgeous hands match the numerals and markers perfectly. The vintage-inspired logo adorns the dial.

The name, Hamatic Silver-Plated by Friction, refers to its unconventional winding mechanism. She’s brought to life by their in-house Calibre 106.0 beating at 21,600 vph with a power reserve of 72 hours:

Their pendulum-style hammer winding mechanism is bidirectional and equipped with a highly efficient and reliable mechanism that has two click wheels operating a reduction gear:

Each piece features a special hand engraving of Grossmann’s birth year “1826” on the balance cock:
