My first tide complication watch - the Habring2 Aurora β±οΈππ¦πΉ
Just in time for Christmas came my first NWA since April last year, the Habring2 Aurora. Like its predecessor, the Endurance, it is a collaboration with cronotempVs and is themed around Shackletonβs extreme polar expeditions. Both watches have been produced in a series of 33 pieces (each).
What is different is that instead of a power reserve and a lumed day / night indicator (important for polar regions, where a look into the skies is not always a sure bet) you get a tide complication and a moonphase instead. The seconds subdial at 9 oβclock and the top seconds complication is a common element, as is the hour and minute hand design, and the fonts used.
The overall look is somewhat somber but it very much depends on the lighting - visibility is generally good irrespective of the light. The hours, minute and tide hands, as well as the hour markers, tide markers and moon are all lumed. The lume is not excessively strong but it does last for the night if you exposed it to light beforehand.

The case is robust and the watch has a sufficient magnetic protection to work in the more extreme latitudes closer to the poles. And while deep diving is not on the cards, swimming with penguins is definitely feasible π§

The time and the tide complication are set via the crown, while the moonphase is set via a pusher at 4 oβclock. The three part case has a highly polished bezel and lug tops, and brushed sides. And suitably for a tool watch the case back is solid.
A comparison shot with the Endurance shows the family resemblance and the differences reasonably well. Itβs a good evolution on the theme offering sufficient differentiation to make both appealing in their own right. And if you want your watch to help you anticipate the tides, this is one of the very few mechanical options available on the market π
Quite happy with this addition, making it the sixth Habring2 in our household (possibly not quite the last π).
Any other Aurora owners out there?
