So far, every "tribute to" was a sellout because of limited numbers. Even this 40 mm Tribute to Mark XI based on the current Mk XVIII sold out within a year and that's because they made 1948 units. Photo: IWC ...  

Looks so much better without the date! Pure and clean design.

No date would be great, but so nice as is that I’m not sure I care!

This white date window destroys the dial. I think these standardized white date wheels are produced en masse to be implemented into as many watches as possible, regardless of whether the color of the wheel matches the dial or not. For me this is simply a ... 

There was a very limited edition in titanium without a date. I think it was inspired by an Italian fashion designer or something: there were initials on the dial but I do not remember which ones GL or GW something like that. Probably 40 pieces or so (a re...  

here you go the GL was yet another limited edition - with a date the EF was the dateless version: titanium, dark blue dial for Emilio Fontana: sexy! I had the opportunity to buy it, not that many years ago.... sigh Credit Brandizzi ...

With the date... it's debatable.

It has the JLC movement.

My opinion is the Mark XV keeps the balance between classic size and reliability but i understand the appeal of JLC caliber

I like both versions a lot. Recently I tried the new titanium version, but did not buy it as the AD was very stiff on prices. I may get one from the used market eventually. Very drawn to the older designs especially the Mark XII’s dial.

There is no doubt that the JLC movement is more refined and appealing, but they had a history of not being particularly reliable, particularly in a tool watch. I too would go with a Mark XV over the Mark XII, but an early one with tritium dial and the sam... 

This piece, and also the mecha-quartz Ingenieur 3805 are my all time favourites.
