Lovely, lovely piece! An icon of style and simplicity and moreover a rare bird. I am so very happy for you (and the watch in fact) that you have found this. Such a piece deserves a caring owner.
It never seizes to amaze me how often I share your taste in watches (and opinions in other topics actually) as you so elegantly express them here on these pages. If we didn't live so far apart I would suggest that we pooled our ressources and shared a watch collection 
(although that would probably require a hefty adjustment fee from my side

Further down in this thread, you discuss whether this watch can pass as a dress watch. I definitely think so! Even on a brown strap. I am not fully convinced about a black strap for this one. I recently put a black strap on an SS watch with (off)white dial and gold indexes and hands for a black tie event. I usually keep this watch on a tan ostrich strap, which I feel compliments the overall colour combo better than a black strap, but the black definitely added to the formal look. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of the watch with the black strap on it for you to judge. I could try and swap straps again and post a few pics, but at the end of the day I guess that you would need to see for yourself on your own watch to finally decide.
Strap changing is so much fun! Almost a poor mans alternative to getting a new watch

I have only ever owned 2 IWCs and here they are: Spitfire XVI Portuguese 7 days I think this is a nice sample of the IWC range. It is not my current plan to trade or sell either. I think I would regret it too much if I did. Regards, Richard....
The rose gold 5001.........
