So I aquired this 5005 in a trade a few weeks ago and have really enjoyed wearing the watch. It reminds me of how much I like IWC's. I've owned many over the years but have gotten away from the brand recently as the new releases over the last couple of years have been getting bigger and bigger. I liked this piece when it was released but was hesitant due to its size.
I still do wish the watch was offered in a 42mm or 44mm size but with that being said it happens to be one of my favorite IWC's that I've owned and it got me thinking about some of my other IWC favorites that I've had............
Lets see some of your current or former favorite IWC's.

I also really like the Big Inge. I have often thought that might make another good daily wear watch on a bracelet for me. And of course, that Portuguese is a beauty. But this is my favorite: respo...
If your a fan of the EWC I think you'd really like the Big Ingenieur. I've always liked the sleek Ingenieur design of the previous models, the red part on the power reserve is a really nice touch on the dial. Add the 7 day movement along with a comfortabl...
As you know, I AM a fan of the EWC, so this Big Ingenieur is right up my alley. Perhaps one day...and I really would like another daily wear piece. My two other IWC dreams are the 5251 Portofino and the Portuguese 2000. The Portofino would be especially n...
Apologies for keeping this one under wraps for a bit. I had been hunting the Jubilee for a while and had the opportunity to acquire this one not too long ago under very pleasant circumstances. I feel very fortunate to have found it. So, you mentioned it i...
It will be difficult to not being stcuk to brown. I am not sure that the combo black croc / this dial is the best. Too many colors for the same elegant watch. Try, you will see. What I would do is to play on an old croc, whose finish would be rugged, and ...
Hi Respo Great watch - is it a 3531 a small Portugese? The one with a JLC auto movement? Once of few IWCs that really get my attention - really nice watch & and the size is just right. Cheers JML
But the smaller version you refer to is a beauty and perhaps better suited to some wrists. It is always good to have JLC inside, IMHO. Thank you, respo
Lovely, lovely piece! An icon of style and simplicity and moreover a rare bird. I am so very happy for you (and the watch in fact) that you have found this. Such a piece deserves a caring owner. It never seizes to amaze me how often I share your taste in ...
I hope that we will meet some day. I love reading about the WIS GTGs on this forum. I so rarely get to talk watches in real time here where I am. I love the idea of a shared watch collection. Brilliant! I will have to experiment with straps for this watch...
I have also often toyed with the idea of attending one of the PPro GTGs but the short notice travelling involved is usually preventive for me. I will drop you a line in case I come near Piladelphia and expect you to do the same if you are ever close to Co...
I have only ever owned 2 IWCs and here they are: Spitfire XVI Portuguese 7 days I think this is a nice sample of the IWC range. It is not my current plan to trade or sell either. I think I would regret it too much if I did. Regards, Richard....
is one of IWC's nicest watches in production. I could see myself owning it again someday. Try it on a dark brown strap sometime, the watch looks great that way. Tony...
My first IWC was this one , or should I say " Deep One ": Then, I got the Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Rattrapante, too : And ... The Portuguese Minute Repeater: Now, I only kept 2 IWCs: One is sentimental, as it is a gift from a close person, my Aquatimer...
.. I'm glad we're giving IWC some attention, as it was my means of entry into this crazy, crazy world This is my only one, but I also love some of the others in this thread such as the Portuguese Minute Repeater, and the vintage Aquatimer pictured in Nico...
Here's my first IWC, the one that started it all for me: A Porsche Design Ultra Sportivo - titanium on rubber, quartz and tiny by today's standards at 33 mm diameter. The only watch I ever sold, which I still regret. Since then I have accumulated an embar...
... is vintage IWC cal.89, i love the details of movement. in future, i hope to two more: vintage Ingenieur and either modern or vintage Portugieser! stefan...
... yes, actually my vintage watch collection is not only focusing on particular brand, as long as eye-catching, within my budget, the piece has interesting history, then i will hunt for it. by the way, would like to ask you advice, will PM you shortly af...
But did I have to be surprised? I love a lot the rarely seen Mark XII with its cathedral hands. Is it possible to get more pics of it, please? Best, Nicolas
...The new IWCs since around 2000 haven't really appealed. Ref 866 Ingenieur is one of my favourites: I think the original Yacht Clubs are not given the respect they deserve. Lots of innovative features built on a rock solid movement: And the rattrapantes...
