Horological value
It's the horological value, no doubt about that, but I would have rather spent 27k on a Minerva than a Montblanc.
They are entering a dangerous price range that, by tradition, would be much more accessible to a Minerva than a Montblanc. We have the old Lange 1815 there, we have some very fine GP chronographs, we have JLC chronos over there as well.
Would I rather spend 50k on a 5170? Anytime! There are lots of things that Patek brings in for the extra 23k: prestige, finesse, innovation ( ie. dynamometric crown) and, last but not least - I know some will raise an eyebrow, higher resale value in case of...force majeure.
