Officine Panerai

I agree that the scenarios can be great or terrible...

...and to be honest, it wasn't that long ago that I was having the same discussion in another forum about questionable Swatch quality (Omega to be specific). On another day, it was Patek (cost-cutting related to movement finishing on certain models). On another it was FP Journe (unreliable movements)...and so on.

Outside of the situation with Panerai, do you have evidence of your suggestion that there's a broader Richemont effort to consolidate with the intent of cost-cutting at the expense of the customer?

I've owned watches from almost all of the big brands (except AP and Nardin) and I can say I've been happy with my watches and have had stellar service in all cases (but one) over decades being in the hobby. I know of a few others who have had less-than-stellar experiences too but for the thousands of happy customers who don't post, it only takes a few vocal ones to paint a certain picture.

I just don't see this broader suggestion that Richemont is out to damage their consumer base on purpose to save on costs, but I'm open to being convinced.
