Honestly, heritage and niche market aside. I feel there's a limit as to how much u can vary if you only want to make one kind of watch. Dressier options like how the datejust and cellini is to the Rolex line would be great for Panerai. So I appreciate the dressier and smaller due. What I dun appreciate is the drop in water resistance. It's like a paper tank. Looks fierce and nothing else. It's a great opportunity actually for Panerai to have ultra thin watch yet maintain the water resistance. I hope they will be able to go this direction in future. The geek in me fervently awaits

But not for my personal taste. I have worn 44mm and 42mm. I didn’t like the 42. It was comfy but I wanted a substantial wrist presence.
Yes, it is all a matter of preference based on your own tastes.
