Size does matter..
The seasonality of size may impact not only profitability but survival with brands that are known for its size more than anything else. In Panerai’s case, it may not have a choice (even if it wanted to pursue being a niche operation.. even the volume there may not be enough) given present circumstances. I’m just hoping that 38mm strategy enables them to maintain and add to the likes of a current production 372.
I used to hate these things that stray from DNA but have come to accept that they serve a purpose. And from a purely aesthetic standpoint, I will concede that they’re not exactly hideous. Having said that, I’ll stick to the bold and simple 47mm case. I like the past more than the future in certain respects.
