And I’m sure others will have good reasons to disagree. I chose the Hesalite version, actually 3 times. One vintage 145.022, the prior version and the new one. I also have had several other plexi crystal watches for many years with no problems that a little Polywatch wouldn’t clear up. I have had, however one occasion where a sapphire crystal shattered and pretty much destroyed the dial on a watch. My fault totally but there is a reason that diving watches over the years have done well with plexi crystals until sapphire came along. They’re tough and easily replaced, if worse comes to worse. At this point in time, I think the difference for me comes down to looks and in the case of the Speedmaster the sapphire just didn’t look right around the edges. Someone described it as looking like the watch had a cataract and that's kind of what it looks like to me. Milky white reflection around the rehaut. As far as the case back goes, well, the movement just isn’t that beautiful, especially compared to any ALS. Nice enough for a machine finished movement but once you’ve seen it…
Anyway, no wrong choices here, it’s a wonderful watch and a nice upgrade over the prior version regardless of which version you choose.
