Excellent photographic comparative essay
The 5227 always felt "empty" at 12 with only one baton and the dauphine hands were too wide at the base. They have fixed both problems. Very appealing now to claim the classic Calatrava automatic mantle for this generation. I'm glad they didn't alter the case in any way. White date window is a practical legibility concern.

And whilst I was underwhelmed last year with the small seconds I really love the 5227 on my wrist. The proportions due to the lugs work much better for me and the dial looks so much better in its layout than with the small seconds. Actually this is crazy ...
