Indeed, both beautiful watches.
Last year, I thought I would love the 6196, which I did on paper, but it didn't sing to me on the wrist for some reason. And I've tried it on several times.
The me 5227 looks amazing in pictures, perhaps a sort of younger look, more modern design. I haven't tried it on yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

I am a big fan of the scalloped lugs. And even though it’s a minor difference the faceted dauphine hands really look great to me. Both watches are great additions to the catalogue in my opinion.

I have tried both in person
And whilst I was underwhelmed last year with the small seconds I really love the 5227 on my wrist. The proportions due to the lugs work much better for me and the dial looks so much better in its layout than with the small seconds. Actually this is crazy ...
This is very interesting because I think I would feel exactly the same way.

I really wanted to see this one on my watch outing last week...
...but they didn't have many of the new watches in yet. Good size and thinness with date. 38 would be better imho but no big deal. Same sentiment about the date. I do prefer the sharp dauphine hands. But overall a very compelling watch...
Yes, 38 mm would be even better and with a matching date disc.

Big fan of this release
Overall no date and center seconds would be king. Secondly would be dial matched date wheel. The case shape and railroad make it really charming.

And I find this version absolutely desirable. I couldn't say which I prefer, this one or my 5227g-001. 🤔 ...
To used the old cliche, similar yet so different!
Calatrava perfection! Each with their majestic charm! While the 5227G is (for me at least) the more rugged and practical younger brother, the 6196P remains my favourite. Not because of the metal, but the simplicity to which heightens its romanticism.

I prefer the 5227 compared to the 6196
I didn’t like the previous 5227s.. but for the salmon version, they make the bezel abit thicker.. I think it did wonders to the look.. The issue it I find the hands and markers to be really black.. it was quite jarring when I tried it..

Great post and comparison! Like you I wanted to love the 6196P, but in person it fell flat. I found it to be a little dull. For me it needed something more
Eg Breguet numerals - something. On the other hand, in person, the 5227G did not disappoint. More interesting case and dial. Beautiful watch. Very appealing.

less salmon dial again as too many being produced. I thought both the 5227 and 5396 are due a new movement with longer power reserve and more interesting dials. I’m not a fan of these hands like the 6119 either. What would have impressed me would have bee...
