My watch is a rare 5136/1g. It went in for a Complete service and refinishing of bracelet which had to be sent to Geneva. So I’m fairly certain it went to henri stern agency also because the service estimate was from henri stern. But again I didn’t mail the watch for service so I guess anything is possible. I find it odd this dealer wants to open the service seal to check the watch. How are they better at QC than Patek? Maybe it's a new policy?
Some bad actors may be using the service sleeve and then using them on new watches and claiming those new watches are sealed. That's another hypothetical.
I had the same experience. Tourneau Bucherer claimed it's not allowed.
I knew that was true for new Patek watches, but I wasn't aware that it's true for serviced watches. Or perhaps that's just Tourneau Bucherer's policy. If so, it's disappointing... John
This sounds very fishy, but I have no experience with Patek repairs or the HSA.
If this AD insists it will not return the watch to you with an intact seal why don't you demand that they still give you the broken seal and a statement as to what they actually did in this inspection and when it was done. Not a perfect solution if you in...
I have 2 watches sent via AD to PP NY and they came back sealed.
This is in their website videos too. I think your AD means PP when the text says “They” but I can only guess since this is your sentence. Not sure but maybe things changed now vs when mine was sent.
I’ve always sent them in myself
via insured shipping to Stern or dropped off in person when I live there. I’d give Stern a call as some of the others suggested.
