Well modified year and makes sense
I understand the thinking in Patek. While their watches are beautiful, the company was similar to wall street stock in assuming that the prices will keep going up. The worst was the 5098P. I talked to a Patek AD and he said that he does not expect to sell many of them now. So, when the recession hit them deep (no one expected the 5159 to not sell), they are skillfully modifying their watches to make it sell given the conditions now. I like the 5098R and 5101R. The others are boring to me (my taste). I guess that it is going to take Patek a while to come up with something like the Sky moon now. As a customer, I am glad that Patek is coming down to earth and thinking of the economic conditions and adapting to it.

I really like the look of the 5960R, and am even fond of the 5098R. I think my wife really likes the return of the Nautilus for ladies, as a sports watch. She was never a huge fan of the 24's.

Yep, an in house manual Wind Chrono, Karim.

what's really new
I agree. Mainly this year it seems to be all about introducing the same watches as before in different metals. This makes sense when the economy is down, since it requires little investment for Patek to change the case metal. Eric von Schonberg

The new calatrava does look appealing, with a great new style for the 5960. But I have to agree that all these new models are simply variants of previous classics. A very insightful report Jerome nonetheless. Many thanks as always!
Which is the real 5101
I notice 3 pictures of the dial-side of the new 5101R, 2 have a serial number in the sub-second dial, one doesn't. I'm assuming the one without is a rendering, and they didn't bother rendering a bogus SN, or is it the other way around? A

Patek, perhaps, is wary of launching a fabulous innovative groundbreaking (uh, for Patek anyway) timepiece at this point in the economic history of mankind... save it for next year?? But who knows.

PP is not immune to ecomony crisis. For the brand, it is a wise move to incur mnimal cost by merely changing the metal and the dial in their "new" range. Some will still say wow but not me. Regards Ling

I wonder were the 5960R will fit in in terms of pricing. Perhaps the reason increased the price for the 5960P so drastically was so that they could wedge this one just under it, but still above the 5980
