Here comes the time when we can discover the new Patek Philippe watches for 2009! We've heard many suppositions about a 5970P, or about a new in-house manual wind chronograph. Apparently we'll have to wait a little more! Added note from Dje: the 5970P is ...
No real new watches, here, but more an evolution of already exisiting watches. The " new " ten days is, to me, less appealing than the legendary 5100 with its special horns on each side of the case. The " new " WT in white metal is really nice, with a sup...
and the new 5960 is absolutely beautiful, stunning...i have decided to sell my 5980 and buy this!! i think overall the new range of watches appear more sexier...i think Patek are right when they have mentioned Romantic.... R's Sid
I really like the look of the 5960R, and am even fond of the 5098R. I think my wife really likes the return of the Nautilus for ladies, as a sports watch. She was never a huge fan of the 24's.
I agree. Mainly this year it seems to be all about introducing the same watches as before in different metals. This makes sense when the economy is down, since it requires little investment for Patek to change the case metal. Eric von Schonberg
considering they came out this year with RG Aquanaut and 5960R...also they already make 5712R......why not 5980R ?? I'd say its very possible...we will see.
IMHO, the dullest offerings in years... the 5970P is the star, but I'm not moved by it... I think the 5970G will be the eternal favorite. I've never really loved black dial dress watches... the hard contrast of the white windows and white print.... not fo...
The new calatrava does look appealing, with a great new style for the 5960. But I have to agree that all these new models are simply variants of previous classics. A very insightful report Jerome nonetheless. Many thanks as always!
I notice 3 pictures of the dial-side of the new 5101R, 2 have a serial number in the sub-second dial, one doesn't. I'm assuming the one without is a rendering, and they didn't bother rendering a bogus SN, or is it the other way around? A
I call this a window-redressing. Getting same references in different metals and colours. Tuck Tuck. So no new calibers? Is Patek afraid of the economic meltdown? C'mon, show us the new in-house manula wound chrono! Larry
Patek, perhaps, is wary of launching a fabulous innovative groundbreaking (uh, for Patek anyway) timepiece at this point in the economic history of mankind... save it for next year?? But who knows.
PP is not immune to ecomony crisis. For the brand, it is a wise move to incur mnimal cost by merely changing the metal and the dial in their "new" range. Some will still say wow but not me. Regards Ling
I have been waiting for a watch like this for my 19 yr old girl. Round. 38 to 38.5mm. My daughter is slim and actually thin. Officer's case with a half hunter back. And for an "official" father's gift to her for making it to my "dream" medical school. She...
The people here, and this includes those who don't post are like a large family or community of family friends at the least. There are an incredible number of doctors here. I am sure, that as she begins her new life in London, she will come across the wid...
as noted by the others, it does seem that RG is the color of the moment. I wonder if this has to do with having the same complication in a lower price point to accommodate the economic slowdown as the sole reason for such a move? Or is Patek once again at...
I wonder were the 5960R will fit in in terms of pricing. Perhaps the reason increased the price for the 5960P so drastically was so that they could wedge this one just under it, but still above the 5980
for the post. Agree with Nicolas, for the most part, nothing new, just revamped. Don't care for the 5960R. Seems as if PP was unsure on how much lighter to make the dial. Love the dark gray on platinum. Perhaps this one should've had a cream dial that wou...
for sharing the info My overall feeling of the collection is a bit of a disappointment. The one I like is 5101R. 5970P is very predictable and , honestly, not that nice but ,obviously more rare. But , selfishly, I know I'm happy I won't need to swap my 59...
it feels a bit of an aching pain knowing that this is it for 5970......ending with a disappointing black dial 5970P that try to look modern with a white chrono hand (yucks). Imho, it works better with 5971P, looks classy. When I know that the Blue dial 59...
Hi, At least on pictures I'm close to finding it more beautiful than the R. I keep an excellent impression from the watch on my wrist last year! Cheers Dje
Back from the basel fair where I saw many nice watches. But believe me, if you see the new 5970P live...it's a mindblowing beauty!!! Lucky who will call this masterpiece his own
I too am a bit disapointed that no all-new chrono references were launched (nothing to stand in place of the non pt 5070), but I thought it was good of them to launch a Calatrava reference with styling cues of the much more expensive 5159. I was hoping th...
Hi, Congratulations on getting a 5970P! You're possibly the first in that case! Any idea about when it could arrive? I know PP is generally fast to begin deliveries after the show. Your comments about the PP market are interesting. I have no clue if Asia ...
Great pics and report. the 5960R is my favorite. And the grail is the 5101R. I saw the 5101P months ago but it didn't speak to me. The dial was not my cup of tea. But the 5101 really is gorgeous
It seems like patek philippe is just doing some tweaking to their current inventory. There seems to be no breakthrough design in this year's collection. Furthermore, it seems like ther'e cutting costs IMHO. Why would i say something like that? well, Calar...
Hi, I understand that the new offerings can let you thirsty, but they're not bad at all! By the way, please let me try to answer: Calatrava: I hope you've realized the 5159 calibre (5.25mm) is thicker than the 5153 calibre (3,3mm), so the case can't be th...
I understand the thinking in Patek. While their watches are beautiful, the company was similar to wall street stock in assuming that the prices will keep going up. The worst was the 5098P. I talked to a Patek AD and he said that he does not expect to sell...
