Another year, another "dreaming of steel" set of comments
Every year, this post ("what will patek introduce") causes all of us, myself included, to dream of a great steel piece. 5270 in steel? 5130 in steel?
In fact, when we all first heard an annual calendar was finally coming in steel, I think everyone was so excited --- and we got the 5726.
When we heard an annual calendar chronograph was coming in steel, I think everyone was so excited --- and we got the 5960A.
Both are fine watches, but honestly, nothing too special.
Maybe this is the year Patek blows us away and makes a 5170 or 5270 in steel, or even better, a 5078 in steel. But I am very doubtful. I can see them save the 5170A for a truly special limited edition release.
I predict a 5170R with a black dial (like the 5205R) and maybe the 5170P with sector dial (this would be quite special). Patek knows everyone loves the sector dial but does not make a "clean" sector dial in the modern collection (the 5396 and 5296 sector only) and I think they finally end that this year.
And I would imagine something out of left field, like the PIlot, that we cannot predict. Aquanaut chronograph is my guess though.
