Patek Philippe

I’m finally getting some AD love after years of collecting and being listed. Next step with PP is to get one of the Patek complication par excellence, the perpetual calendar.(as I already have the chrono 5170p and the world time 5110p. ) I do like both op...  

But I really love the dial colour on the 5140p oh so much that I am willing to overlook the odd printing choice so that's the way I personally would go.

Yes I have seen there are some font issues that have been discussed. Nothing that bothers me at all when seeing the watch in the metal. And yes the dial is truly spectacular charcoal. And still super subtle.

What bothers you with the 5320 if anything? For me it’s the to many winks to the past. What I like is the simplicity and readability and the complex case.

First, its really remarkable degree of elegance (even though I admit I like the 5320 dial better -- one of the most original among all Patek PCs! ;-) Second, the 5140P has a modern yet very classical design, which will forever be good looking...your next ...

no compressed numerals. Personally I always prefer a cleaner dial with apertures.

But PP are the best to make a cluttered dial look like it makes sense.

Here's why: it's got its own thing going. And it looks great! I love its sporty/vintagey/casual vibe and have been surprised it hasn't been a huge screaming sells-over-retail success. The 5140 is great, too... but, to my eye, it's a slightly lesser versio... 

Will just have to live with that I think. Not the worse after all. I think it will age with grace with the blackened gold indices.

It has it’s own style and stands alone with it’s design. I tried it about two years ago. I felt that it was very versatile and had a great wrist presence, too. And then there is your personal next generation… 😊 Best Thomas ...

They fit very differently. 37 vs 40. Long straight lugs vs downward sloping short lugs. The 5320 is a cream color that borders on yellow, just fyi. Here are photos to help. Sorry the 5140 is rose and not platinum, but hopefully this gives you an idea of t...

Not a doubt in my mind. I have been wearing the 5320 as a daily watch for over two years and I like it more today than I did when I bought it ( new) from an AD in Beverly Hills. I paid full retail for the watch and have not regretted that decision. As a P...

Sizes have become a minor issue as you mature as a collector I think. As long as the sum of elements add up so to speak.

which watch fits your wrist better? The 5320 is 40mm while the 5140 is 37mm in diameter, quite a difference. How important is legibility to you because the 5320 is a lot more legible compared to the dial of the 5140. For me I would go for the 5140 as I ha...

I know the question is about perpetual calendars, but have you consider an annual calendar? This is a complication strongly associated with Patek, and there are additional options in terms of layout and color.

But seeing it live is just very different and it seemed very elegant and not disturbing. And yes this probably might affect legibility.

Blue is great and a bit too shiny. Plus we’ve seen so much blue lately. The grey just emits class and refinement and matches the pt well.

The 5320 is crossover casual watch that you can easily wear with dressy or casual attire. For a perpetual calendar, that's a real strength. I really enjoy watches you can wear with just about anything--makes for many more opportunities to enjoy the watch.... 

and these two watches, besides being a perpetual calendar are so different! My vote is 5320G, it's actually so different and unique in today's collection yet is historical.

Sometimes I think the Patek PCs have a legibility problem. The 5320 does not. It’s high kn my list for my next Patek.

I see you are fine with either dial besides both models are about the same price range. Therefore, I think the PP5140P would be it. Firstly, the white prints over grey background makes the dial more interesting and less bothered by the 'irregular' fonts, ... 

Yes given that the price of the 5140p was the same due to not being in the catalog anymore is certainly an argument-among all the other horological of course-

and my major impression was that it was hard to see the hands against the dial; serious legibility issue there. That said, many people don’t care as much about legibility as I do.

I was really surprise in how uncluttered the traditional style perpetual layout looked on the 5140. Extreme balance is also a way to deal with clutter and I wonder today if the 3940 doesn’t do that job par excellence. Photo credit private seller on Chrono...  

I wasn’t talking about the legibility of the subdials. I was taking about the legibility of the silver-colored hour and minute hands against the gray dial. I found it hard to tell the time without moving my wrist around to make the hands catch the light. ... 

I would get the 5320, and then stretch your budget and get a 5146p also. They are not at crazy prices, and I love mine - the grey dial is super and (to pick up the point on legibility) the AC dial is slightly less cluttered than the 5140 and there is (ele...

You just twist the watch a little and get good readability.

I like the causal option and that dial on the 5320 just works for me.

I think the play and complexity of the stepped lugs with the case and straight cut sapphire is something that will fascinate most fans. I think Tim from Watchbox went down with this one😂in one of his presentations. Nice

…different ways. The 5320 has the best legibility and fits for every occasion. The 5140p has the best and most elegant grey sunburst dial ever. Its funny to read this post, because the 5320 was my first PC and I later added the 5140P. Congratulations for ...

But also keep in mind that the 5140P is not produced anymore.

As much as the two markers at 5 and 7 annoy me (IMO completely unnecessary to have them), the rest of the watch is really nice and very legible.
