Calatrava 5120/1G-001
A charming and classic dress watch that has a distinctively different look than the 5120G-001 strap variant.
Here the dial is opaline with Dauphine hands, faceted markers and an applied dimpled minute track compared to a white dial, stick hands and applied Romans for the strap variant.
The bracelet is beautifully designed with a robust machined clasp with micro adjustment before it was a thing.
And yet, it doesn’t add too much bulk to the bracelet.
The bracelet is not integrated and can be removed by undoing the 2 screws on either side of the watch head for times when one may want to mix it up on a strap.
Overall, the watch has a great elegant presence with some heft despite what its 35mm diameter, 7.1mm thickness and 40.9mm lug to lug distance may suggest.
Sometimes less is truly more.
