Sometimes though I just look at these as small pieces of art to admire - sure they are functional perpetuals but it’s the overall aesthetic that counts. I have a grey dial boutique JLC MUT perpetual which is absolutely unreadable - but I love the dauphine hands and dial color so still wear it often - never know the day or date (I’m retired now) but it looks nice 🤣

I was on the website yesterday as I’m looking to purchase one. Today it is listed as discontinued Has anyone heard of a defect or other reason a relatively new model(2021) would be discontinued? ...

Both colors are discontinued. I was going to buy the salmon version. I’m sure something will replace it

For what it’s worth, I have had no issue with it over 18 months of ownership.
It might be larger than 3940, but at 41mm personally I wouldn’t call it large. It’s a perfect size for me 😀

I’m glad to hear that you like it still. I had a 5147 that was stolen recently, it was 38mm. And a great watch, but I kind of like the slightly larger 5236

It’s really beautiful in person very sophisticated for a large watch. My thinking is maybe they found a way to make it under 40mm and thusly would require a new part number, otherwise, the reviews all along is that ir]t has been a fantastic watch

I do prefer a little extra weight on the watch, I maybe unique in that but it feels really substantial

A friend just picked up a 23 blue dial for under 100K usd. Like new condition. It’s a very beautiful watch.

I absolutely love this kind of configuration.
They’ve also managed to squeeze in the moonphase as well as having rhe day/date/month in windows - way easier on the old eyes to read!

Not discontinued now
I was in the Patek boutique yesterday when we were looking it up It said both colors were discontinued Now the new 8% lower price is there It must have been a mistake. The people at the boutique were as befuddled as I was

Many such pieces..
Several were removed yesterday but are back today .. including the purple dial Twenty 4’s …. Someone probably got a bit over enthusiastic when updating the website 😂
As I am writing, both the salmon and blue dial versions are displayed on the Patek website with prices
Perhaps at some point they will move to a gold version(s), like they did with 5960 and 5496 which both started out only in platinum.
Both dial variants are definitely discontinued but there are still plenty of them available at ADs.
I guess they will keep them on their website (with increased prices) until W&W.
