These 2 are very different: The 5712 is a more chic sport, while the 5980 is a sport sport chic. The feeling is not the same, the 5980 looking bigger on the wrist, witjh more presence. The 5980 is the extrem expression of a sporty Nautilus. I waved a long... 

Because I think that slenderness is a key point for the Nautilus design and the 5712 is much more convincing on this topic... but of course, they are my two cents... Fx

I initially bought the 5711 and had to sell it in order to buy the 5980. I have to admit that 5711 sits much better on the wrist but I do prefer the bolder presence of the 5980. Being my only bracelet watch, I prefer it to be a little sportier.

Get the set of cufflinks; then you can wear the 5712/1A as a formal watch. Truly a very versatile watch that can go from the courthouse to the club house. What I like to call a "James Bond watch." Do note, the 5712 series are not waterproof, and only have...

The 5712 models are only rated for 60 meter depths. I don't think 60 meter depth resistance is good enough for swimming duty. Go for the beautiful 5711/1A for swimming duty and we've seen an individual on PuristSPro with a 5980/1A who even activated his c... 

how a watch capable of 60 meters underwater cannot stand up to a shower. The depth ratings from all the Swiss watch companies do not mean what they say. Thus, a watch certified to 30 meters should never be submerged even though it can go down 30 meters. G... 

But admittedly have a problem with these 'maritime' watches that supposedly cannot hold out the water when you go deeper than the dishes in your kitchen. My AP RO 15300 included. 50 m WR only!

but never immerse it under water, I have my 5712 with me in the shower as well, so far no issue. 30M is just good for keeping the moisture out or wearing it in the rain.
