I totally agree on your opinion about the last offers from Patek.
I much prefer the 5070 and 5970 to the new versions, too.
Each of these Chronos offers a lot of pleasure to their wearer / owner.
As for the Vacheron, it is a sublime piece.
Let's say that the bad thing is the dilemma, and the good thing is that you can't go wrong with any of these!

I agree on the 5270
Saw it in the flesh at AD, and I was wearing my VC. The dial material and the layout were to me not as beautiful to me as a 5970 Joe

IMO, patek perpetual calendars are a perfect blend of style, sophistication, and elegance. They got it right and continue to use the same ingredients. The VC on the other hand has a more playful attitude, with the malte lugs, and grain finished dial. Both...

the 5970 is a bargain price wise compared to the 5270, almost 50K in most cases.
my preference Nico:
it's a no brainer between the 5970 and 5070. The latter has a 'flawed' dial design where having the sub dials cut across 2,4,8 & 10. I can't accept this in any watch, just me. It's a tough fight for me between the Patek and VC, I will still take the 5970 ...
