Forumners, After a few months, I think it is a good time to look back at the new Patek Philippe 5370P , unveiled during Baselworld 2015. It is a new reference but is aiming at becoming a future iconic model and from what we understand: it won't be produce...

I will handle 5370P for the first time on the coming Friday. But I ordered it a long time ago and I expect it next year. The best recommendation was when a Patek executive said me in May that "5370P is perhaps the finest reference we have made in decades"...

Now my thoughts are in 5370P and I hope that I will get it during the coming 6-7 months. It's always nice to plan next year and limiting the number of new watches. But what happens if Patek will introduce a nice 40th Anniversary Nautilus. Or an automatic ... 

And I guess this is also nice to be surprised with a novelty we didn't expect. Who knows, the Nautilus will maybe be stunning? I see that you would like an automatic chrono? Most of the people talk about manual. I'm quite an automatic guy and even if I li... 

and this year I got i.e. PP 5960/1A and 5980/1A. I'm waiting for 5370P plus another I will pick up any time quite soon. But an automatic chronograph in platinum, see through back plus normal minute and hour counters would be nice. Such a watch does not re... 

Currently I must say I'm really into the Chrono-PC models, whether it is a 5970R or a 5270R. Not many I would like to purchase but the few ones are piece of history (or future so). Cheers, Mark

Here, which really sings to me is the: - Case: good size, proportions, not too mannered, just enough to really be appealing. - The coaxial pusher which reveals the presence of the... - Rattrapante! There are not so many in the market. But it is a magic ch... 

This is a great move from patek. You're right to mention the case has what it needs to be interesting without being boring or too classical: it has the thing which makes it different and appealing (like the 5070 has) A little precision though: the sub-dia...

Very hard to tell but now that I'm used to seeing the 5370P with it, I think that a normal hand would have seem a little boring in comparision. As you say, this is a minor detail :) Cheers, Mark

I remember when I saw the Lange 1, black dial which had luminous hands (don't remember the name), I didn't like this detail at the time. Maybe it is because I saw normal hands Lange1 before that, as, here, this is the first 5370P version we see

but still not better case & dial, 5070 still wins put this movement in a 5070 and you have the perfect watch

I have ( if possible ) to see it in the flesh, to be sure that I prefer the case of this 5370 over the 5070. As for the dial, give me a 5070 enamel dial and I will be in heaven. Best, Bruno. Nicolas

However, I think the 5070's case is good but what makes it so appealing is the combo with the dial: it is the oeverall look. The 5370P too of course but if you take only the case, I think the 5370P's is more interesting and unique. You'll tell us!

I might be in a minority but I do not like this new site :-( Not on my Mac and not on my Iphone I sometimes have difficulties to make a reply ( probably did something wrong) And I can't find the 'edit' function anymore

not only the 'edit' but also the 'preview' when you want to post a reply ? Is that function gone or didn't I see it ?

The preview button is now in the menu bar when you type your text (on the right next to HTML button) ...

This is not very comfortable to start with a new UI. But for instance the reply function, the more I use it, the more I find it nice to use. Everything is not perfect yet but give this UI a chance. In fact, 50% of our members use a desktop/laptop while th... 

I started using it 3 days ago and I know it is not pleasant to change habits at the begginning but I start to find my marks now and must say I even find some features more interesting than with the previous interface. We will bring evolution as time goes ... 

another thing: there is a bug which makes the Edit button disappear. You have to log off and log in again and it will appear. Bill will fix this soon

I was a big transition and we are still tuning. Edit should still be in place for the customary 30 minutes. The quickest way to get to your post after using the reply button is by clicking on the little head top right menu and choice "My Posts" pick the p... 

as I love lacquered or enameld glossy dials. The problem is than we may have then too much black dial as we are starting to have many blue ones too A tough dosage!

Maybe Patek will come back with 5 to 10 new 5070 next year, with such an enamel dial? :) Best, nicolas

although I'm not convinced about the 41mm size of the case...the watch seems to be very well balanced on the wrist (of course, for that wrist). talking on a purely aesthetic impact, the 5370P is sensational, it's gorgeous! I always had a bit of trouble ac... 

Yes, I think the decentralized sub-dials work very well here (even if I never had a problem with this issue as I even prefer a balanced position with the brand's tag rather than 2 subdials at 3 and 9 which are usually squeezed between the outer scale and ... 

It is a thing of pure beauty this 5370P… a dream to most of us so being able to see detailed photos and reading more about it here is great!

that is a 99% perfect watch. For sure one of the best they made since 2010 Very nice dial, great case, unbelievable movement and a very good size Why 99% and not 100 ? I prefer the sundials to be perfect aligned at 3 and 9 o'clock any not a bit below And ...

I know the competition with new releases is tough when one possesses a 5070 but they don't lack talent at Patek :) You had this watch in your hands if I remember well, I'm glad you give such an opinion about this model. Thanks for your kind words about th...

No easy answer here, IMO.

It displays its complexity so well so incredibly three dimensional that said, I am usually partial to the Swiss aesthetic

It will depend on how we cope with the aesthetics, the size, the wearability, what we want from a caliber, the importance of the technical aspects etc... One should have both! Cheers, Mark

yes better the the DS too personal opinion ofcourse but those blued screens and gold chatons are imo very overrated

... and surely a "historically important watch", inho. Clock work that is integrated in the minute counter's wheel column, centrally positioned chrono- and (!) rattrapante wheels and last not but least an isolator mechanism that looks (strikingly) similar...

May be the DS is more advanced or more special but just looking at how the movement looks..... I prefer this patek movement

... Patek's ss chrono will. Just because of the "mighty snake pit" -look of it and the shine of the German Silver. This Patek calibre looks, albeit very slick, a little higgledy-piggledy and all over the place. Patek's 5959 ss chrono movement in contrast ... 

The DS is a fantastic watch, maybe the best of its kind, especially since it adds a "double split" minute chrono hand too. Many article were written about its features. We were with Bruno only talking about aesthetics and personnal taste. The shape of rbi... 

Even if I don't know if I could say which one is the best in terms of finishing for instance. However, when I got this picture I remained quite a while looking at it...

Absolutely one of my all time Patek favorites. Just about everything is right about this piece, and taken to the Nth degree. Stunningly beautiful. Magically complex. Bold, but not arrogant size. The dial and case work are sex on the wrist. Tremendous sens...

Well Moritz, as I said I don't really want to compare each caliber with each other, especially because there is a lot of subjective elements and that we should be comparing them side by side, which is hard to do. However, I think there is no question abou... 

It wasn't aware that there is such a difference in terms of price between the 5959 and 5370. As far as I know the 5959 calibre is made of German Silver and hence the connection to it. Best Moritz

Take price out of the equation......the 5370 would win quite comfortably for me. I think a few PP watches over history have captured something special. That something special is always very tricky to define. It is often a balance of the dial...or maybe a ... 

The best PP in the last decade was to me: the 5170. The success of the 5070 was, maybe mostly, driven by the fact that PP released a new manual chronograph in 60 or so years. The well informed collectors, an investors, made a run for this piece and the ni... 

And yes, we can agree on the 3448!! 5170, for me, is just not one I appreciate so much. I think it falls so much in the shade of the 5070 that it suffers by comparison. It doesn't make me "right", but it is my view. The 5370.....uhm, i think that is a dif... 

as there are some very heavy weights in the other complication categories !

In Minute Repeaters we have yet another league up! What do you think of the 5970....for me, that is a complication up and superb....that would be on my list of Top 3 watches of last 20 years.....i mean production watches ... not special one-offs or super-... 

the current 5270 is much, much more appealing to me than the 5970. Portholes of the 5270 are not to everybody's taste but I like them a lot! As a collector's piece the 5970 should be in the collection but the 5270 deserves it more. Best Moritz

Like the 5070, the 5970 has an aesthetic and balance to my eye that is perfect. Balance makes a big difference to me on this......I once owned a 5970P and sold it......I would love to get it back. On equivalent pricing, i would take the 5970 over the 5270... 

....i bought one as new from PP. I also had the 5070P. Between the two watches, my 5970P never got wrist-time...the 5070P always claimed my wrist-time. But it was a mistake to sell it...i regret it.

.....partly favouritism. The 5070G never got to my wrist ahead of the 5070P.....so i let both 5070G and 5970P go. At the time, i was accumulating vintage Rolex......so was evaluating just how much I wanted the 5070G and 5970P relative to not only the 5070...
